15-year-old boy was victim of a brutal hammer attack in Syracuse
Syracuse, N.Y. — A 15-year-old Syracuse boy was attacked and hit with the claw-end of a hammer Saturday, according to police and the boy’s family. The boy was struck in the back of his head around 10:50 p.m. at 530 Boyden St., police said in a criminal complaint filed in Syracuse City Court Sunday. The boy suffered a severe head fracture and neurological damage, they said.

Judge allows Syracuse to demolish dilapidated house owned by notorious Brooklyn landlord
Syracuse, N.Y. — The city of Syracuse has secured a court order to knock down a fire-damaged house owned by an out-of-town landlord with a long history of property neglect. Brooklyn resident Mendy Kletzky bought the house at 1027 Midland Ave. for $3,500 in 2020, almost two years after pleading guilty in a criminal case stemming from his refusal to fix lead paint violations inside one of his other Syracuse rental houses.
