    Map shows Texas earthquake site as tremor hits city of Mansfield

    A 3.0 magnitude earthquake hit Texas on Wednesday afternoon, according to the United States Geological Survey . Meanwhile, on a busy day for seismic activity, another quake was reported in New Mexico.

    Both earthquakes originated approximately five miles south-southwest of the Texas city of Mansfield. At least ten people in the vicinity reported the earthquakes to the US Geological Survey, who created this map , showcasing the areas where the quakes hit.

    The shaking the seismic event caused was "light" with no damage reported The quake that struck in New Mexico , meanwhile, was marginally stronger, described as "moderate" with a possibility of "very light damage."

    Mansfield is located south of Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. It is on the opposite side of the state from where the New Mexico quake took place. On the Modified Mercalli Intensity scale, the earthquake was rated VI. Meanwhile, the New Mexico quake, originating in the tiny city of Jal, was rated V.

    Some locals shared their experiences on X. B***h…was that an Earthquake?? In TEXAS???", wrote one person. In response, another social media user wrote: "I'm in Mansfield tx that definitely was had my house shaking."
