Mayor invites faith leaders to community conversations

CONYERS — Conyers Mayor Connie Alsobrook is bringing local churches and faith-based organizations together for a series of community conversations to strengthen partnerships, share resources, and identify ways to better serve residents. The initiative, titled “United in Faith: A Community Conversation,” will offer two opportunities for faith leaders and representatives of religious organizations to meet with the mayor. Sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 10, and Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Conyers City Hall, 901 O’Kelly Street. The meetings will focus on four areas: collaboration opportunities, resource sharing, identifying community needs and building partnerships. “By bringing church and faith leaders into community conversation, we strengthen the connections that help us better understand residents’ needs, share resources, and work together toward common goals,” Alsobrook said in announcing the initiative. “United in Faith creates an opportunity for collaboration that benefits our congregations, our neighborhoods, and the City of Conyers as a whole.” The initiative is the latest in a series of community conversations Alsobrook and the City Council organized this year to encourage public participation and strengthen relationships between local government and residents. Previous listening sessions have addressed land use at the Georgia International Horse Park, local business
