Performers looking to share their artistic craft are getting a chance through new monthly open mic nights in Jeannette. It’s an opportunity that hasn’t been regularly available in Jeannette since the Keynote Cafe, once a popular spot for local musicians, closed in 2019. Sellers Avenue, one of the bumpiest roads in Jeannette, to be repaved
A road that Jeannette city manager Ethan Keedy pegged as one of the worst in the city will be repaved. The entirety of Sellers Avenue — which Keedy described as one of the worst roads to drive on in Jeannette — will be resurfaced. That work will include Sellers Avenue/North Fifth Street between Harrison and Gaskill avenues, and extend to Gaskill Avenue between North Fifth and North Eighth streets.
Greensburg man charged in connection with drug overdose death
A Greensburg man is facing charges in connection with a fatal drug overdose last year. City police charged Hugh J. Hawkey Jr., 48, on Friday with drug delivery resulting in death and related offenses. In a criminal complaint, police said they believe Hawkey is responsible for providing a fatal dose of drugs to Eric Cummings, 43.

Man found shot to death inside home in Pittsburgh's Larimer neighborhood
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man was found shot to death inside a home in Pittsburgh's Larimer neighborhood on Friday. Police found a 50-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds after they responded to Lowell Street for reports of a shooting. The victim, who hasn't been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.Two suspects ran from the scene, police said. No one has been arrested."I just heard gunshots. I heard loud gunshots. I was about two blocks up because me and my kids had just got back from a field trip," said Rhonda Madden, who was nearby when the shooting happened. Detectives with the violent crime unit and mobile crime unit are investigating. No other details were immediately available.
