Final Curbside Yard Waste Collections for York City Residents on December 11th & 12th; Program to Resume in March
The City of York's Yard Waste Drop-off site will close for winter from January to March, reopening in April 2024, weather permitting. The city's hauler, Republic Services, will make the last curbside collections of yard waste on December 11th and 12th. Grass clippings are not part of the yard waste program and should be left on the lawn or bagged with regular trash.

Recently-retired Manheim Township Police Chief Dies from Cancer. (Manheim Township, PA) -- Funeral services are pending for the recently-retired police chief in Manheim Township Police. Officials say Thomas Rudzinski passed away Thursday from cancer. He retired from the department in June after 36 years with the department. He'd received multiple honors for lifesaving and distinguished service. His colleagues say he's well-known and loved throughout the township and across Pennsylvania for his involvement in leading several police organizations as well as volunteer work. In an interview a few years ago, the chief said his goal was to make a difference for as long as possible and to improve the quality of life in the township in making it a safe place to live.

Sweet 717 was first established in Harrisburg by owner Jess Kost back in 2009. This locally owned candy store has always been located inside the Broad Street Market, and over the course of eight years has become known for offering a wide variety of fudge and other hand-made candies as well.
