Lubbock, Texas — Local business, Carpet Tech, held its fifth annual lunch to say “thank you” to all police men and women who serve under the Lubbock Police Department.

Carpet Tech owner Melinda Pharies told EverythingLubbock.com that getting to cook and serve the police officers for National Police Week is the least she can do to say “thank you.”

Pharies said, “I just feel like there’s so much they do on a daily basis for our community and I mean for us in general and everybody. And so we just feel like it’s just a very small token of appreciation.”

Feeding 500 Lubbock police officers and employees is something that means a lot to police Lieutenant Mark Wall.

Lieutenant Wall said, “To be supported by the community to have a week where that the community recognizes that the job that the officers do, and then to come out here and to be able to experience the support and have time together and have somebody tell you that they’re thankful for what you do, goes a long way for the officers.”

The Police department is going through changes, as well as the city.

Lieutenant Wall said, “You know, we’re coming into a time where we’re going to have a new police chief and a new city council and all that.”

However, one thing that has not changed is the support of the community.

Pharies said, “I mean, it’s not like I wish we could say we never had to call in the police department. But you do you know, as a business owner, you do. And so we just do what they do for us.”
