Review of Hellertown Police Department 'doesn’t paint a pretty picture,' council says
HELLERTOWN, Pa. -- A third-party investigation is shedding some light on the extent of the issues within the Hellertown Police Department. Hellertown Borough Council released the review from the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association. The PCPA prepared the report after interviewing all officers and reviewing documents on policies, scheduling and other matters.

Catalytic converter thefts cause damage at Northampton County dealership, auto center, cops say
Catalytic converter thefts remain on the rise, state police say, and this time caused damage to a Northampton County car dealership and auto center. Pennsylvania State Police in Bethlehem are investigating incidents at Mike’s Automotive and Mechanical Repair, 163 N. Walnut St. in Bath, and the Brown-Daub dealership, 3903 Hecktown Road in Lower Nazareth. Both happened last month and were reported on April 12 to state police.
Lehigh County man accused of raping 19-year-old he met on dating app
A Hanover Township, Lehigh County man is accused of raping a 19-year-old woman he met on an online dating app. Lorens DeJesus Gomez, 22, of the 500 block of Cedar Hill Drive, also is charged with felony intercepting communications. Karen J. Schular, the public defender assigned to Gomez, didn’t immediately return a request for comment Wednesday morning.
Pa. man dies from injuries suffered while burning brush, coroner says
A Lehigh Valley man died after an incident that hospitalized him with burns almost two weeks ago, the Lehigh County coroner announced Saturday. The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensics Center said the May 3 death of Leo C. Pavelco, 89, of Slatington, was ruled an accident following an April 22 incident wherein his clothes caught fire while he was burning brush at his home in the late afternoon.

A man was hospitalized following a stabbing Saturday near a Bethlehem park, city police said. Bethlehem Police Capt. Nicholas P.
