LOS GATOS, Calif. ( KRON ) — The Los Gatos Saratoga High School District Teachers Association plans to hold a rally Wednesday morning at Los Gatos High School. Teachers and parents attending the rally say the district isn't paying enough compared to others in the county.

The teachers association is asking for better salaries, saying that the district isn't paying a livable wage. Most teachers, according to the group, have to get second jobs just to survive in the area.

The teachers association is also asking for smaller class sizes when it comes to specialty classes, saying it's about student safety and the workload on teachers.

KRON4.com reached out to the district for comment and received the following statement:

“The district is currently in the middle of regular contract negotiations with both the District Teachers Association (DTA), as well as our classified staff bargaining unit (California School Employees Association). We provide regular updates after every negotiation session to keep our families and staff fully informed and look forward to continuing good faith negotiations that are mutually beneficial and fiscally responsible to our community.”
