The Los Angeles Rams have spent the last two offseason overhauling their roster. After going all-in to contend and win a Super Bowl in the 2021 season, the team was left in a tough spot. Lacking draft capital and in salary cap hell, some difficult decisions were made.

The Los Angeles Rams began purging their roster during the 2023 offseason, moving on from several key veterans. It would help the team get their salary cap in order and give opportunities to younger players to step into bigger roles.

What was described as a reset year turned into quite a successful campaign for Los Angeles. They went 10-7, earning a Wild Card spot. While they lost to the Detroit Lions during Super Wild Card Weekend, the 2023 campaign was a successful one for the Rams.

Closer to returning to contention than anyone could have predicted, the 2024 NFL offseason has been about continuing to add to the foundation in place. There have been some significant losses, such as Aaron Donald retiring, but this is a roster now flush with talented, productive young players.

Alas, there are still a few areas of weakness as the Rams head into offseason workouts. They all come on the defensive side of the ball, where inexperience is still an issue at a few positions. As shared by the Bleacher Report Scouting Department , linebacker, edge rusher and cornerback are their biggest remaining weaknesses.

Luckily for the Los Angeles Rams, there are several veteran free agents that could help them out. Linebacker Kwon Alexander would provide the team with a player who can excel in pass coverage at the second level of their defense, something they are lacking.

Yannick Ngakoue is a reliable, consistent pass rusher who would help take pressure off of rookies Jared Verse and Branden Fiske, former Florida State teammates. Ngakoue won’t offer much in run support but would be a great situational pass rusher to deploy.

In the secondary, Steven Nelson has been suggested. The Los Angeles Rams did sign Tre’Davious White in free agency, but he has a lengthy injury history. Nelson brings extensive experience and reliability to a secondary with a few question marks.
