LeBron James, Lakers Trend Online as Donovan Mitchell Shines in Sensational Game 7

Donovan Mitchell's sensational Game 7 performance vs. the Orlando Magic grabbed plenty of attention on social media. Believe it or not, fans were talking about LeBron James and the Lakers throughout the NBA Playoff clash.

LeBron and the Lakers were eliminated from the postseason at the hands of the Denver Nuggets earlier this month. LeBron and Anthony Davis didn't get much help from their surrounding role players throughout the series, leading fans and analysts alike to call on the franchise to make a big play for a star player this offseason.

During Mitchell's phenomenal Game 7 performance to propel the Cavs past the Magic and into the second round of the playoffs, fans couldn't help but wonder what the Lakers would be capable of with Mitchell in the lineup.

A big three consisting of LeBron, Davis, and Mitchell would be a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses.

"This Donovan Mitchell audition for the lakers is going very well," Jason McIntyre of FS1 said during Game 7 of the Magic-Cavs playoff series.

McIntyre isn't the only one who thinks the Lakers should make a play for Mitchell this summer, but they'd have to sell their future and probably part ways with Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura to make it happen.

Is it worth it? The Lakers finally have draft picks to play with, giving them the opportunity to build from the draft in preparation for LeBron's eventual retirement. Selling that future to land Mitchell for a make-or-break season feels like it'd be a massive mistake.

The NBA is getting younger. The Lakers must adapt and start building through the draft, but fans argue getting Mitchell would be worth it if it means LeBron and Davis can win one more title together.

Even Paul Pierce wants the Lakers to make a play for Mitchell this summer.

Should the Lakers sell their future and go all-in on Donovan Mitchell this summer?
