While many are criticizing Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker for his controversial graduation speech, Gracie Hunt--the daughter of team owner Clark Hunt--offered a unique perspective on the issue.
For the young Gracie, she sees no problem with Butker's comments that many deemed as misogynistic and sexist.
"Well, I can only speak from my own experience, which is I've had the most incredible mom who had the ability to stay home and be with us as kids growing up. And I understand that there are many women out there who can't make that decision," Hunt said on FOX News.
"But for me and my life, I know it was really formative and in shaping me and my siblings into who we are."
Harrison Butker was the talk of the NFL world in recent days after he tried to encourage women to be homemakers during a graduation speech.
"I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolic lies told to you. Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world. I can tell you that my beautiful wife Isabelle would be the first to say her life truly started when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother," Butker said.
Butker received plenty of backlash from fans and experts alike, with some even calling on the Chiefs to cut him. The NFL even issued a statement to distance themselves from the player.
While many are not happy, it certainly looks like Gracie Hunt can see where Butker was coming from in his speech. She also noted that she respects Butker's Christian faith and what he has accomplished on and off the field.
Kansas City Chiefs place kicker Harrison Butker (7) kicks the opening kickoff against the Cincinnati Bengals during the game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
For what it's worth, fans are divided on Clark's comments about Butker."
"All reasonable people back Butker!" a commenter said. Another supporter agreed and said, "Good for her! Honesty! Love it."
A critic pointed out, however: "It's fine to support him. He didn't do anything wrong. But the little heiress' comment was pretty uninformed and even obnoxious. She thinks the only reason that women work is because they "have to"? She isn't aware of all the educated and talented women in the workforce who choose to make a difference outside the home?"
It has yet to be seen if the Chiefs will do anything about the issue. Butker has yet to respond to the controversy as well.
