    Former NBA Player Darius Morris Dies At 33

    Former NBA player Darius Morris has died, according to TMZ. The former Los Angeles Lakers guard was just 33 years old.

    On Saturday (May 4), the former NBA player’s family released a statement to TMZ and revealed he had died; the statement read, “With great sadness, we announce the passing of our dearly beloved son, Darius Aaron Morris. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace.”

    The publication has reported that the exact details surrounding the passing of former NBA player Darius Morris have not yet been revealed at this time, however, the site did report that they could confirm that his body was discovered on Thursday (May 2) in the Los Angeles area.

    Before making it to the league, Darius Morris had an outstanding high school basketball career in Los Angeles. He was also the standout player at the University of Michigan, where he earned third-team all-Big Ten Conference his sophomore season.

    In the same year of that achievement, Darius Morris also broke the Wolverines’ single-season assists record, with a total of 235. The record was later broken by Trey Burke just a few years later. In 2011, Darius Morris entered the NBA draft, becoming a second-round pick to the Los Angeles Lakers.

    Morris would go on to play with the LA Lakers for the first two seasons of his four-year career, playing alongside the late basketball legend Kobe Bryant . Morris would also play for other NBA teams like the Philadelphia 76ers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Memphis Grizzlies, and the Brooklyn Nets. He would go on to average 3.3 points, 1 rebound, and 1.4 assists in 132 games. Following his NBA career, Darius Morris ended up playing several seasons overseas in countries like China, Russia, and France.

    Recognizing the latest departed Los Angeles Lakers baller, the team posted to their official social media accounts a memorial photo of the former NBA player and wrote , “We are heartbroken by the passing of Darius Morris.”
