After the shooting, Atlanta Police Department officials told 11Alive that they could not confirm who was recording the music video, but that the incident appeared to be isolated and targeted.
APD officials also told the outlet that they had launched a full investigation after three people were shot in the Dixie Hills neighborhood on Tuesday (May 14) around 5 p.m. Witnesses told 11Alive’s Cody Alcorn that Lil Baby was in the area when the shooting took place, but they said he was not shot during the incident.
In a video shared to social media via local Atlanta taco spot @slappingtacosatl_, Lil Baby was seen arriving at the location of the music video shoot, which officers confirmed was nearby Verbena Street NW.
Police said when they arrived, they found a 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the arm and a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the back. Officers later located a 23-year-old man who was at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck. Police said all three men shot during the incident were alert, conscious, and breathing. All are expected to survive.
APD also reported that the three men shot and injured during the music video shoot featuring Lil Baby were not a part of the video production team, but there may have been “individuals involved in the totality of the production that were involved in the incident.” This is an active investigation.
Meanwhile, on the official Instagram page of Slapping Tacos, which shared a video of Lil Baby before shots rang out, shared updates notifying customers that they would be closed for the remainder of the day. Speaking on the shooting incident, the apparent owner spoke out showing gratitude to their supporters and prayers to all involved.
They added, “No words for today. My intention was to bring my customers, my followers, to my new location! Prayers to all involved. My family was present. I almost got shot! It was bad and I apologize for anything that was my fault! ‘Cause I definitely would never risk my business and my family and especially no one else! Prayers to all involved. Pray for our city! My location is safe. The neighbors have embraced us and welcomed us. And everyone is welcome in Dixie Hills.”
