Dallas County Supervisors Will Consider Total Maximum Property Tax Dollars Certified For Levy For General and Rural County Services
The Dallas County Supervisors will meet on Tuesday. The Board will consider for approval a resolution for total maximum property tax dollars certified for levy for the general and rural county services. The Board will also consider for approval a bid for the Pioneer Avenue Bridge, a five year road construction program, secondary roads fiscal year 2024 budget and a county budget presentation. They will consider a geothermal well and conductivity test agreement, Minburn Communications Broadband expansion letter of support and closed session for pending litigation.

Temporary Closure of Northbound Iowa 25 at the I-80 Interchange in Guthrie County to begin April 3rd
(Creston) If you are driving on Iowa 25 near the interchange with Interstate 80 in coming weeks you may notice some construction work taking place north of I-80. Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 3, weather permitting, construction crews will begin removing and replacing the pavement on Iowa 25 north of I-80. This work will require directing traffic around the work zone with a marked detour route using I-80 and Guthrie County Road F-65/While Pole Road.
Perry Fine Arts Will Host Free Will Donation Red Cedar Chamber Music Concert
A non-profit organization will host a concert for the public to enjoy. The Perry Fine Arts asked Red Cedar Chamber Music to put on a concert at 2pm tomorrow at the Perry Performing Arts Center. They will explore the physics of sound written only in harmonics, the relationship of color and texture in music and visual art through an inspired piece. Red Cedar’s core ensemble members are violinist Miera Kim and cellist Carey Bostian but they have invited Alex Norris and Donhee Han to play with them in a program of string quartet music.

High School Students In Dallas County to Compete at State Solo/Small Ensemble Contest
Schools in Dallas County will be sending several students to compete today at the Iowa High School Music Association State Solo/Small Ensemble contest. For Perry, they will have 15 entries performing at Greene County High School, including solos, duets, bass clef ensemble, treble clef ensemble. For Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School, they will have nine entries also going to Greene County on Saturday. The Tigers will have four soloists and five ensembles with a treble duet, treble ensemble and a mixed double quartet.

Tickets On Sale For Perry High School Spring Musical
Tickets are now on sale for the Perry High School Musical that is coming up in the near future. The Perry Bluejay Drama Department will be showcasing their talents with a musical called “Matilda,” with one show on Friday at 7pm along with two shows on Saturday at 1 and 7pm. Tickets can be purchased as of right now online using the link provided for the cost of $8 for adults and $5 for students. Also tickets can be purchased at the door of the performance. Busy Day of Hoops For Perry’s Olejniczak
Perry senior Lydia Olejniczak will be one of the main stars for the Southwest Iowa team today at Dallas Center Grimes High School. The future Drake Bulldog softball player will put on the basketball shoes one final time and compete with a variety of schools in the annual National Coaches Basketball All Star Classic presented by Pizza Ranch. There will be four teams playing today representing all four geographic sections of the state.
T-Mobile Unveils Perry As Next 25 Hometown Grants Recipients
The City of Perry has been named a part of the T-Mobile Hometown Grant Awards recipients for this year. T-Mobile has dedicated $25 million to fund community development projects like revitalized downtown spaces, revamped parks, building renovations and more to make a positive difference in small towns across the nation. They announced a $20,000 grant will fund the first inclusive ADA playground at Wiese Park, to allow children of all disabilities to play together in one space. The project was spearheaded by the Perry Rotary Club Foundation. Since the program’s start, T-Mobile has given more than $7.8 million dollars to 175 communities across 41 states. The initiative has provided more than $320,000 in funding across eight cities in Iowa, including:
Bagley Fire Department Pancake Breakfast Reminder
The Bagley Fire Department is hosting an annual event tomorrow. The fire department will host a breakfast fundraiser that will include pancakes, sausage and scrambled eggs, with drink options of coffee, milk or orange juice. The meal will be served from 7am to 1pm, and proceeds from the breakfast will go towards funds for equipment for the fire department.
Guthrie County Health Services Director on Illness Numbers from the Winter
Guthrie County and across Iowa saw an increase in winter time illnesses, and Guthrie County Health Services Director Jotham Arber says that the season was pretty rough. Arber mentions that Covid continued throughout the season, along with illnesses like RSV, colds and the flu. He adds that RSV hit youth fairly hard, with 300-400 cases per week across the state during the peak season. Arber tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the flu was another heavy hitter this winter.

Wildcats to Compete for First Time this Season Tuesday
The West Central Valley boys and girls track teams will be on the road Tuesday for their first meet of the season at the Earlham Early Bird meet. The boys team will be competing against the ADM Tigers, Earlham Cardinals, Madrid Tigers, Martensdale-St Marys Blue Devils, Mt Ayr Raiders, Panorama Panthers, Perry Bluejays, St. Edmond Gaels and Van Meter Bulldogs. The girls team will face off against the same teams, and add the Atlantic Trojans and North Polk Comets.
