Lima Exchange Club celebrates 65 years of service to the community
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Exchange Club celebrated their 65th anniversary Thursday evening. The club was founded in 1959 and has spent every year since then working to prevent child abuse, support police, lift up local kids, and find other ways to help around town. They're known for the ACE Scholarships for high school students that excel despite difficult life situations, the Law Officer of the Year Awards, and donating money to countless other projects.
Minor sustains injuries in Saturday shooting in Lima
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Police Department is investigating a shooting Saturday evening. According to police, they responded to a call of a shooting in the 2200 block of Molly Avenue at the Brower Road apartments, where they located a juvenile male with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. No suspect has been arrested yet, and no further details have been released. Anyone with information should call the Lima Police Department at (419) 227-4444. The American Association of University Women (AAUW) has been looking high and low for a location for this year's book sale with no luck. The former Elder-Beerman building, where they have been for the past several years, is not an option. They are now looking for a large open space of 10,000 to 15,000 square feet to house the sale, which would be available from June through mid-September.
Heavenly Stitches re-opens under new management

After several years in business, Heavenly Stitches hosted its grand re-opening on Tuesday afternoon. “The business has been open since 2010,” Chandra Neeper, the new owner, said. “I was the previous owners’ manager for the last six years. LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Chapter of the NAACP is supporting high school students who are ready to take that next step to college. On July 20th, they will be holding their 9th annual scholarship banquet at the Graduate Medical Building at Mercy Health-St. Rita's, located at 751 W Market St, Lima, OH 45801. There will be a tour of the building before the banquet. The Lima chapter is looking to help as many students as they can from school districts around Lima, and by coming to the banquet, you can help fund the scholarship program.
