Mayor's Spring Clean-Up days helping Lima residents get ride of unwanted items
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Lima residents are taking advantage of a long time program to help get rid of some unwanted items. Saturday was the second of four “Mayor’s Spring Clean-Up” days that the city is offering in 2024. There were four dumpster site locations around the city, and residents could dump a variety of items except for things like chemical waste, appliances, and propane tanks, which the city will dispose of them.

When we think of addiction, we more often than not think of vices like drugs, alcohol, and gambling. But the Lima Catholic Schools have given a new meaning to the word addiction for over 40 years. Allen Lima Leadership gets a sneak peek of Spring & Main and tour Central District
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Allen Lima Leadership group got a unique tour and vision for downtown Lima today. Members of the ALL team were led by director Matt Childers as well as president and CEO of economic development Dave Stratton and Good Foods company founder and president John Heaphy. The group toured the new Spring & Main building led by Heaphy and got a sneak peek at the new businesses inside, which include the new Casa Lu Al, Nonno's Cellar, and Vista Tacos, along with the 3rd-floor space for Rudolph Foods R&D department.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - A strong geomagnetic storm took place on Friday night, causing vivid Northern Lights, aka Auroras, in both the northern and southern hemisphere! NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center says it was a G5 (extreme) storm, the highest level on their scale of rating these geomagnetic storms. The last G5 came back in 2003!
Lima Area Concert Band debuts new song by Van Wert composer and new timpani
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Area Concert Band returned to the stage for the first time this season on Saturday night. The Beat Goes On was the first of four regular concerts to be held this summer. The concert also featured two major debuts. On their brand new timpani, or kettle drums, they performed for the first time ever an original piece composed by Van Wert band director Robert Sloan, titled "Thundering Echoes." The new timpani was purchased to be shared by both the Lima Symphony Orchestra and the Lima Area Concert Band after two years of joint fundraising.
Academic Signing Day at Lima Senior continues to recognize hard work and inspire others
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The hard work of soon-to-be Lima Senior graduates was recognized during an annual signing ceremony. Over 70 seniors sign their certificates to either go to higher education, the military, or, this year, right into the workforce. Academic Signing Day has been a tradition for students since 2015, and the school hopes that they become examples for underclassmen to underscore the importance of looking toward their future. And these Spartans are ready to take that next step to continue their education journey.
