Vikings start quick in win over Riverdale
ELIDA — Leipsic head coach Darren Henry had a feeling prior to his team's Division IV regional semi-final that they were ready to go. After not having played for nearly a week, the first two Viking batters collected base hits. The offense didn't stop there as Leipsic banged out 12 hits and took advantage of five Riverdale errors on their way to a 10-0, five inning, win in a Division IV regional semi-final at Ed Sandy Field.
Schroeder, Smith named all-Ohio
COLUMBUS — A pair of Putnam County baseball players received all-Ohio honors from the Ohio Baseball Coaches Association over the weekend. Leipsic's Quin Schroeder was named to the first team in Division IV, while Kalida's Braylon 'Bubba' Smith was named to the second team.
Defiance Moose Lodge #2094 Grant Recipients
The Friends of the Defiance Public Library, received a $1,000 grant from the Defiance Moose Lodge #2094. Assistance is being offered to landlords willing to rent to at-risk individuals
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - At-risk individuals in Allen, Auglaize, and Hardin counties may soon have a better chance of finding a home. The West Ohio Community Action Partnership (WOCAP) and the Mental Health and Recovery Service Board of Allen, Auglaize, and Hardin Counties are looking for landlords who will rent to those at risk. They are offering a maximum of $2,000 to landlords who agree to be in the program to assist those searching for a home for a fresh start.
Bicyclist struck, killed by car in Wood County
RUDOLPH, Ohio — A bicyclist was struck and killed by a car in Wood County early Monday evening after failing to stop at an intersection, according to authorities. The Wood County Sheriff's Office said the bicyclist, identified as Andrew Bell 32, of Findlay, was not wearing a helmet and riding northbound on the Slippery Elm Trail and entered the roadway on state Route 281 about one mile south of Rudolph. An SUV driving eastbound on the state route then struck the bicyclist.
