Deadly crash in Lebanon injures three on Highway 5

UPDATE 4/19/2024: The Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified the driver of a pickup truck who was killed April 18 in Laclede County.

MSHP said 55-year-old Michael J. McBride was killed when his pickup truck crossed the center line of Highway 5 north of Lebanon. The truck hit an oncoming SUV head-on, seriously injuring the driver of the SUV and two children who were inside.

This is MSHP Troop I’s 10th fatality for 2024.

LEBANON, Mo. – Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash team is responding to a crash two miles north of Lebanon Thursday evening.

According to MSHP Troop I, two vehicles crashed on Highway 5 at about 5:34 p.m., leaving one person dead and at least three others with injuries.

The crash occurred when a pickup traveling south on Highway 5 crossed the center of the road and struck an SUV head-on. The driver of the pickup truck died and the three occupants of the SUV were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The identity of the deceased will not be released until their next of kin is notified of their passing.

MSHP said the crash was not weather-related.
