ICYMI: McKinney ISD approves 3% teacher raise, names district leadership roles
McKinney ISD officials approved a 3% raise for teachers and staff in May. (Shelbie Hamilton/Community Impact) Catch up on recent news from McKinney ISD. Employees, including teachers, nurses, counselors, librarians and other eligible positions, will receive 3% raises for the next school year. The cost of the raise for the district is $5.64 million. The compensation increase was approved by the district’s board of trustees May 13.
Petition Begins To Save Plano ISD Elementary School
During a Plano ISD Board meeting on May 21, 2024, the board announced the recommended closure of Davis Elementary, Forman Elementary, Armstrong Middle and Carpenter Middle Schools. One parent from Davis Elementary is attempting to stop the closure by creating a petition. In just over a week, Erica Salcido has received over 750 signatures. In the petition, Salcido emphasized the unique significance of Davis Elementary School for both mixed-hearing and deaf and hard-of-hearing (DHH) children. The Christian private school has three campuses, including one in Flower Mound. Coram Deo Academy was initially Flower Mound Classical Christian School and served 57 students in grades 6-12 when it first opened in 1999, according to its website. The school has since expanded and operates campuses in Plano and Dallas.
