DALLAS — A 30-foot deep sinkhole shut down a Dallas County road on Friday morning, officials said. Deputies responded Friday morning to a call about a traffic hazard in the 1300 block of Malloy Bridge Road near Ferris in southeastern Dallas County. A caller had reported that a large part of the roadway was missing, creating a large hole.

Mesquite Police Investigate Homicide on Gross Road Following Late-Night Shooting
A fatal shooting on Gross Road has Mesquite police on the hunt for answers. The incident, which occurred late on April 27, claimed the life of 36-year-old Christopher Sye. Officers were called to the 900 block of Gross Rd. around 11:11 p.m. following reports of gunfire, upon arrival, they found Sye with a gunshot wound. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. The other individual involved in the tragedy is asserting self-defense and has been cooperating with law enforcement, according to the Mesquite Police Department.
