There's a good chance that Las Vegas will always be a popular tourist destination, and over the years, certain parts of the area — including hotels and casinos — have become iconic to locals and travelers alike. One of those is The Venetian, a resort that's meant to pay tribute to Venice, Italy, complete with canal rides that will make you feel like you're really there. But when the resort was sold in 2022, longtime fans were concerned that it would be closed or be renovated into something unrecognizable.

Good news: While massive transformations will be happening, they should be the kind that longtime visitors are very happy with.

In this video shared by @news3lasvegas on Friday, May 3, we see that The Venetian in Las Vegas is set to undergo a huge $1.5 billion renovation, which will be the biggest in the 25 years since the hotel originally opened its doors.

The 4,000 suites in the hotel will be totally rebranded, new restaurants will be added, and even the convention center will get an upgrade, which will all start in the summer, and they're supposed to better reflect the overarching theme of Venice .

According to commenters, these are welcome and much needed changes.

One person wrote, "With all these new hotels like Resorts World and Fontainebleau it was about time for all these hotels to get renovated."

    Sounds like it!

    More About The Venetian's Renovations

As the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported, the first new rooms at the resort will open in September, but the full renovation won't be complete for another year, around the summer of 2025.

The convention center alone will take up $188 million of the budget, and some of the improvements to the resort have already been finished. That includes changes made to the Grand Colonnade, which now has a brand new lounge and bar.

A press release from The Venetian states that " new chef-led culinary concepts " will be announced later this year.

"This redevelopment marks more than just a surface-level renovation, it signifies a deep understanding of our guests and a profound reimagining of an iconic resort unlike any other in history. The beauty of this project lies within the balance of the beloved familiar and the never-before-seen," said Patrick Nichols, president and CEO of The Venetian.

It sounds like a lot of awesome changes are on the way to keep this beloved resort fresh for years to come.
