Investigation underway after infant found dead in home
An 8-month-old baby died over the weekend in Conesus, Livingston County, the Livingston County Sheriff's Office announced on Wednesday. Deputies were called to a home on Railroad Avenue at 8:35 a.m. Saturday to investigate after the family of an infant called 911 to report that the child was not breathing, Livingston County Sheriff Thomas Dougherty said in a news release. Deputies said that the child was found dead at the scene.

Avon police chief Joseph Geer steps down amid FBI investigation. What we know now
Avon Police Chief Joseph Geer resigned Monday amid a federal investigation into the police department's bookkeeping and scheduling practices. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Attorney's Office are investigating Geer's "scheduling and time reporting" in his capacity as a school resource officer for the Avon Central School District, Mayor Robert Hayes said. Hayes said he could not comment further as the investigation is still ongoing, but said Geer's resignation will allow the town to make a "clean break" and begin to "right the ship."
Millerton Road fire extinguished quickly, no injuries
LAKEVILLE — The Lakeville Hose Company responded to a fire in a second-floor bedroom at 301 Millerton Rd. Thursday, April 25, around 8:50 p.m. The first car to respond reported smoke coming from the second floor. A second alarm was struck, and fire companies from Sharon, Falls Village and Millerton responded, with Norfolk as backup.
