Tennessee Vols continue to be the unfortunate 'victims' of popular viral country music song

The Tennessee Vols continue to be the unfortunate victims of a popular country music song that goes viral every few weeks.

Country music singer Riley Green, an Alabama native, has a song called "Hell Of A Way To Go" that features the lyrics "Or maybe on a fifty-yard line Watchin' Alabama whoop up on Tennessee".

The song has become one of Green's most popular songs during his concerts. And the singer often changes the lyrics to something like "maybe on the 50 yard line, watching (insert college team of the city where Green is playing his concert) beat the s--t out of Tennessee"

Green, who says he's an Auburn fan, has changed the lyrics during various concert stops to include teams like Kentucky and Clemson "beating the hell out of Tennessee".

Back in March, Green played the song in Lexington and changed the lyrics to "maybe on the 50 yard line, watching Kentucky beat the s--t out of Tennessee".

Most recently, Green played the song in Simpsonville, SC and he changed the lyrics to "watching Clemson beat the s--t out of Tennessee".

The only problem with Green's lyrics, of course, is that Tennessee is the one that's most recently "beat the s--t" out of both Clemson and Kentucky.

It's a fun song from Green. And I think it's great that college football -- specifically the SEC -- is often referenced in country music songs. It shows just how passionate fans are about the sport.

Unfortunately for the Vols, "Tennessee" just seems to fit well into the rhythm of Green's lyrics. And since everyone outside of Tennessee seems to have an extreme dislike of the Vols, it's a lyric that generates a positive reaction in almost any city outside of Tennessee.

Green, by the way, doesn't change to a pro-Tennessee lyric when he plays the song in Knoxville. He sticks with the lyric that disparages the Volunteers.
