A Southern Maine man was arrested on Saturday for storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Lincoln Deming, 44, of Kittery, is charged in a criminal complaint filed in Washington D.C. with civil disorder; entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds; entering and remaining in the Gallery of Congress; disorderly conduct in a Capitol building; and parading, picketing or demonstrating in a Capitol building.

The first charge, civil disorder, is a felony. The others are misdemeanors.

Deming allegedly pulled on police barricades outside the Capitol, threw an object toward police, entered the Capitol and while inside for 33 minutes, tried the handles of locked doors and entered the Senate gallery, according to court documents cited by the U.S. Department of Justice in a news release.

More than 1,424 people hailing from almost every U.S. state have been charged for crimes related to the breach of the Capitol, according to the DOJ. Among them, more than 500 people have been charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement, a felony.
