Yesterday, I covered the tragic case of Ella Adler, a 15-year-old South Florida high school student and ballerina who was struck and killed in a hit-and-run boating accident on Saturday, May 11. The boater who struck her immediately fled from the scene, and though eyewitnesses could identify what the boat looked like, they didn't get a good look at the person driving it.

Ella Adler was laid to rest Monday, with her grieving loved ones no closer to finding the person who took her life. But now, Florida police have made a major breakthrough in her case, and are much closer to finding her killer than they were before.

As of last night, @abcworldnews reported that authorities have found the boat they believe was involved in the hit-and-run accident that killed Ella Adler . I noted yesterday that police had located the boat itself, but they have since officially taken it into their possession and are now in contact with the owner, who is reportedly cooperating with the investigation.

The Daily Mail reported that the boat was discovered outside a home in Hammock Oaks , an affluent Coral Gables gated community in Miami-Dade County , close to the Biscayne Bay waterfront. Across the bay lies Key Biscayne, where Ella Adler was waterskiing when she was struck.

However, the Daily Mail clarifies that it isn't known whether the boat's owner, who remains anonymous at this time, was the one driving the boat at the time of the accident. As of Wednesday morning, no arrests have been announced by Florida police .

    Assisting the Ella Adler Investigation

The hit-and-run investigation is still open at this time, and both the authorities and Ella's family have called upon the public to help with any information they may have. The Adler family has offered a $10,000 reward for any information or video evidence leading to an arrest, and the Florida FWC and Crime Stoppers have each offered $5,000 rewards as well.

Ms. Adler was hit at around 4:30 pm on Saturday, May 11, while waterskiing off of Nixon Beach in Key Biscayne. The boat, a center console with blue bottom paint and four offboard engines, can be seen in detail in this video report from CBS Miami . In a statement, the Florida FWC asked that anyone with information or video footage of the accident call their Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-FWCC (3922), or the Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477). Ella Adler was taken from the world too soon, and though nothing can make up for that loss, she and her family deserve justice.
