The NFLPA officially announced 40 players who will attend their annual Rookie Premiere event.

A wide receiver from the Kansas City Chiefs has been selected for the fourth consecutive year. First-round draft pick Xavier Worthy will join several of his rookie peers as a member of the 2024 Rookie Premiere class. He follows Rashee Rice (2023), Skyy Moore (2022), Cornell Powell (2021), Clyde Edwards-Helaire (2020), and Mecole Hardman (2019), who were all previous selections by the NFLPA.

Worthy is one of 18 rookie wide receivers who will attend this year's event.

This annual event, which takes place in Los Angeles, California from May 16-19 this year, serves as a jumping-off point for rookies to learn about all sorts of things outside of the game of football. That includes marketing, endorsements, and just generally managing the brand they create for themselves.

The rookies will get a chance to learn from and participate in events with several NFL brand partners, such as Panini America, Fanatics, EA Sports, Sleep Number, Oakley, Bud Light, Pepsi, Gatorade, Funko, Homage, and more.

The rookies chosen for this event are selected based on several variables, but generally speaking, things like position, draft status, college performance, and projected marketability take precedence. You'll notice that the vast majority of players set to attend are QBs or offensive skill positions. Only two defensive players, Colts DE Laiatu Latu and Vikings LB Dallas Turner, have been invited to attend the event. No offensive linemen or interior defensive linemen will attend.

Ultimately, the NFLPA’s Rookie Premiere event allows Worthy to learn valuable skills to help him manage his career off the gridiron. He's been drafted to one of the NFL's most competitive and exciting teams, so having the tools to capitalize on that will be vital to maximize his career in the league.
