Cullman City Council moves toward airport expansion
CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Council on Monday approved resolutions to complete several years of pavement repairs and upgrades at Cullman Regional Airport, and pave the way for future expansion of facilities and services. Vinemont Town Council announces Henry & Roe Wood Park cleanup day, Senior Citizens Day
VINEMONT, Ala. – The Vinemont Town Council at its recent meeting shared details about upcoming community initiatives. One such event is the Senior Citizens Day, scheduled for Monday, May 20, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Vinemont Community Center. Furthermore, the council announced a cleanup day at Henry & Roe Wood Park scheduled for June 1, starting at 8 a.m. Efforts will focus on tree maintenance, scraping old paint off the current park amenities and repainting the amenities to enhance and maintain the community space. The council also accepted a generous donation from Vinemont Christian Church – a piano that will soon grace the Vinemont Community Center. Additionally, the council accepted a quote from Alabama Outdoor Lighting for the installation of Christmas lights at the community center, city hall, pavilion and fire department. The installation, tentatively scheduled for October, will cost $2,290. The next meeting of the Vinemont Town Council will be on Tuesday, June 11. The market was a collective gathering of the area’s artisans, makers and farmers, all displaying and selling their creations, produce and goods. Westbrook Christian to add softball in 2025, hires two-time state champ Chris Williams
Westbrook Christian School will sponsor softball starting in 2025, marking a return for the program. Last week the school announced that they were bringing back the program for the first time since 2006 and hired former Springville head coach Chris Williams. He helped lead that program to the 2015 and 2016 Class 5A state titles. Williams is a 21-year coaching veteran and was most recently at Crossville during the 2024 season.
One dead after single-vehicle crash in Blount County
BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - Officials with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency say a single-vehicle crash has claimed the life of a Hayden, Alabama man. On Friday, May 17, at 9:25 p.m., officials say 46-year-old Steven P. Davis was fatally injured when his vehicle left the roadway, overturned, and struck a guardrail on Alabama 160 near Mile Marker 16.
