AAA: Gas prices drop in Missouri compared to last week

MISSOURI (KOAM) -- Gas prices have fallen three cents compared to this day last week.

That's according to AAA Missouri Weekend Gas Watch. The organization says of the major metropolitan drivers in Missouri, drivers in Jefferson City are paying the most on average at $3.43, while drivers in Joplin are paying the least at $3.13 per gallon.

Energy Information Administration data says gasoline supplies continue to build. Gas prices will likely fluctuate throughout May and could increase during the Memorial Day travel period.

"Despite another week of increasing demand for fuel, supplies are keeping pace," said AAA spokesperson Nick Chabarria. "Gas prices will likely fluctuate throughout May and could increase as the busy Memorial Day travel period nears."

Drivers in Missouri are paying the 10th lowest gas price average in the country, according to gasprices.aaa.com.
