During Burlington's regular-season finale against Essex on Saturday, Oct. 17 , the Seahorses paid tribute to Mariella Desjardin. Head coach Jeff Hayes read a short speech and athletic director Quaron Pinckney read a statement from a former elementary teacher of Desjardin's who became a living organ donor. The team learned of Desjardin's health issues a few weeks ago, but immediately wanted to help which led to the Oct. 17's events. With the whole team embracing Desjardin, the Seahorses earned their first victory since Sept. 16, with a 1-0 win over Essex. Junior striker Sidney Burdick scored the game's lone goal within the first five minutes.
