No injuries in Williston industrial fire
No one was hurt in a fire on Industrial Avenue in Williston Friday night. It started just before 8:00 p.m. at AstenJohnson, which produces fabrics for paper mills and for the textile industry. Williston firefighters found smoke throughout the building and a piece of machinery on fire inside. The flames also spread to the roof.
Cold front moving through tonight
Today will start out quiet but will quickly warm up into the middle 60’s as we will have increasing wind speeds and clouds as the cold front approaches. Tonight, the rain will start out west but become more widespread into the morning hours of Wednesday. Behind the rain will be snow, but don’t expect it to accumulate due to warmer temperatures.
Police arrest suspect accused of choking man, threatening him with knife
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - A man is being held without bail after police say he tried to choke another man and threatened him with a knife. South Burlington Police responded to the Travelodge on Shelburne Road on Sunday around 3:15 p.m. for reports that a person was assaulted with a knife.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - State officials say single-use items like paper and packaging make up almost a third of Vermont’s trash, which is why a 2020 law was implemented to reduce the impact on landfills and the environment. Grocery stores eliminated plastic bag and shoppers were encouraged to bring their own. For some Vermonters the practice has become second nature.
South Burlington sets date for third school budget vote
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. — Voters in South Burlington are being called back to the polls on May 7 for a third attempt to pass a school budget for the next fiscal year. Vermont Business Magazine Average gasoline prices in Vermont are $3.61 per gallon, up 19.1 cents per gallon from last week's $3.42/g. Vt. dispensaries battle tech issues on busiest day for sales
BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - On their busiest day of the year, cannabis dispensaries across Vermont faced major technical issues. Around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dutchie, the most popular cannabis e-commerce platform in the state, crashed. As the countdown to 4:20 p.m. began, employees at Green Leaf Central in Burlington frantically noted sales on a pad of paper. James Lang, the IT administrator for Green Leaf and two other dispensaries, says many customers walked out, estimating thousands in lost revenue.

He says the weather dealt the syrup industry wild card after wild this year, from damaging wind storms to a late-season blizzard that coincided with his annual Maple Open House.
