Matthew Kukoda is Manasquan High School’s next principal, replacing soon-to-be superintendent
MANASQUAN — The Manasquan Public School District Board of Education announced during its May 14 meeting that current Holmdel High School Principal Matthew Kukoda will join Manasquan High School (MHS) as its new principal next year. Kukoda will be replacing Robert Goodall, who the board previously announced will replace current Superintendent Frank Kasyan upon his retirement at the end of June.
Rutgers basketball forward Mawot Mag cuts down his transfer portal list
Former Rutgers basketball forward Mawot Mag is down to five schools in the transfer portal with one Big Ten program in the mix. According to CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, Mag has narrowed her list to BYU, Clemson, San Diego State, USC and Southern Mississippi. Mag was a multi-year starter at Rutgers. Last year in 17 games played, Mag scored a career-high 9.1 points and 3.8 rebounds. He averaged 26.8 minutes per game last year, also a career-high. A rugged and tough defender, Mag uses his length well and developed into a solid scorer in the Big Ten. Mag joined Rutgers as part of the 2020 class where he was a three-star recruit. According to On3, he was the No. 233 player in the nation. Softball: Marialys Ricourt Reaches 100 Hits for JFK-Iselin Softball Team
ISELIN, NJ -- Marialys Ricourt, a senior softball player at JFK-Iselin, reached 100 hits for her career in the Mustangs' 15-5 victory over South River on Monday. Ricourt went 3-for-3 in JFK's game in the Greater Middlesex Conference Invitational. Baseball: Sayreville Defeats Old Bridge 9-4
OLD BRIDGE, NJ - Sayreville War Memorial baseball defeated Old Bridge on the road on Wednesday, May 15. The game was tied 1-1 after the first inning until the Bombers blew the lead wide open with seven runs in the top of the 4th, along with another run in the top of the 6th. Senior Jack Zapoticzny was named winning pitcher on Wednesday, earning 11 strikeouts and allowing just one run through five innings pitched. After 2 seasons, N.J. girls basketball coach resigns from Non-Public school
After two seasons as the head girls basketball coach at Trenton Catholic, Sherika Salmon is moving on. Salmon told NJ Advance Media she has resigned as the coach at the Mercer County school, citing changes at the school and in the county, including that Trenton Catholic is becoming a charter school and the decision for the Mercer County Tournament to be disbanded in favor of an all-CVC tournament.
Spotswood High School Class of 2025 Hosting Color Run
SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Spotswood High School's Class of 2025 is hosting a Color Run on Saturday, May 18. Participants should wear white for the one-mile color run. The cost of the race is $20 for pre-registered runners. Runners can also sign up on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. in SHS's junior parking lot behind the high school. In-person registration on Saturday is $25. Proceeds from the Color Run go to support the Chargers Class of 2025. A portion also goes to support the E4M Scholarship fund which was set up to honor the memory of Matthew Carlson. The starting line for the May 18 Color Run is Spotswood High School's junior varsity soccer field. Pre-registration can be done by using the QR code pictured above. With the start of the 2023-2024 college basketball season drawing closer, excitement is building for Rutgers future. On Wednesday, their schedule got a little clearer as one non-conference opponent was revealed, one who played in the NCAA Tournament last year. The Scarlet Knights will host Wagner, according to CBS Sports insider Jon Rothstein. While these two programs have only met a few times, Rutgers has dominated the all-time series.
