Jackson County prepares for Off-Site Court
JACKSON — Preparations are underway in Jackson County to welcome the Supreme Court of Ohio for an official session of oral arguments in a program called Off-Site Court. Jackson Middle School in Jackson will become the courtroom for the state’s court of last resort on Wednesday, April 24. Supreme Court staff has been working closely with local officials, educators, and law enforcement over the past year to prepare for the event. ...
Suspect captured in armed robbery of Amish teen
JACKSON — The suspect in the reported robbery of a Jackson County Amish teen has been captured. The suspect was apprehended in Pike County late Friday night. A tip from a citizen, led Jackson County Sheriff Tedd E. Frazier’s deputies to the Beaver area in Pike County. Working with the assistance of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County Deputies were able to take the suspect, now identified as 30-year-old Jason Daniel Holloway of Beaver, into custody. The suspect truck was also located during the investigation in West Portsmouth. Halloway is accused of stopping a 16-year-old Amish teen on Cove Road at gunpoint on Thursday, April 11, as the teen was traveling with his horse and cart. Holloway then demanded the teen hand over his wallet and fled.

Several Drug Take Back events are scheduled in Gallia, Jackson and Meigs counties from 10 a.m.-noon April 27. This biannual event invites all individuals to bring expired, unused or unneeded medications for safe disposal. These sites will accept drugs intended for human or animal use.
