    Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal 2 shifted to July 6, avoids UFC 302 conflict

    Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal ’s rematch has a new date and a new venue.

    The combat sports rematch between the two former UFC stars was originally set to take place on June 1 at Kia Forum in Inglewood, Calif., but has now been shifted due to the date playing host to other events. The boxing bout will now take place on July 6 at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., MMA Junkie confirmed following a first report from Boxing Scene .

    The original date of June 1 had a couple of major conflicts in the combat sports world. UFC 302 takes place on the MMA side, featuring a main event for the lightweight title between undisputed champion Islam Makhachev vs. former interim champ Dustin Poirier at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. In boxing, Dmitrii Bivol is set to headline an event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, against Malik Zinad. His original opponent, Artur Beterbiev, had to withdraw due to injury.

    Diaz and Masvidal first met inside the UFC’s octagon for the inaugural BMF title fight at UFC 244 in New York. The second meeting will take place in the boxing ring. The pair recently went on a four-city tour U.S. tour to promote the fight.

    Diaz, 38, is no longer under UFC contract following a submission win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 279. In his first fight outside of the UFC, Diaz made his pro boxing debut against Jake Paul last August.

    Masvidal, 39, on the other hand, is still under UFC contract, but has been granted permission to box Diaz. “Gamebred” was last in action at UFC 287, where he lost a unanimous decision to Gilbert Burns.
