NEW YORK -- Twelve young men have been indicted on charges, including murder and attempted murder, for violent crimes that officials say terrorized Bronx neighborhoods.The Bronx district attorney's office says the suspects, ages 16-21, are responsible for 11 shootings between February 2021 and June of this year.Authorities say surveillance video of one shooting shows a mother and her children running for safety after they were caught between multiple gunmen.Another shooting resulted in the death of an innocent bystander."There were carjackings during which some victims were beaten, elderly people were robbed at gunpoint for cellphones," Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark said.The DA says the suspects are part of a gang and carried out multiple shootings involving rival gang members.

The NYPD has led a significant operation which has resulted in breaking up a notorious Bronx gang known as the 'Fivesleys'. The gang members, aged 16 to 21, have been reportedly targeting regular citizens, such as day laborers and retirees over the past two years. Allegedly, they resorted to violent methods to steal cash and credit cards. Reports even indicate they have opened fire on rival gangs, risking the lives of innocent bystanders.

The police are on the lookout for a teenager with a firearm who is wanted in connection with a reckless endangerment case in South Jamaica. It was reported that the young man discharged a firearm numerous times in the direction of an unknown target, but struck the back window of a parked and unoccupied car. The incident was reported to the NYPD at approximately 4:10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, according to authorities. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, which occurred in front of 116-80 Guy R. Brewer Blvd., part of the Baisely Park housing complex.

Two New York City school teachers were arrested Thursday for allegedly assaulting young students in separate incidents at schools in Manhattan and the Bronx. Cops first arrested educator Brian Thomas, 33, after he allegedly punched a 12-year-old boy inside PS 161 in Manhattanville just after 12:30 p.m., according to police. The boy was taken to a local hospital but was not seriously injured. It’s unclear what led Thomas to clobber the young student. He was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and harassment. The second teacher was arrested for sexual misconduct after he allegedly touched a 12-year-old female student’s chest, according to sources. Mohamed Baksh, 70, was taken into police custody at 1:40 p.m. on charges of sexual misconduct, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child, police said. It’s unclear what school Baksh taught at. The location of his arrest, at 1619 Boston Road near Crotona Park in the Bronx, has multiple schools within one campus. However, due to the student’s age, the assault likely happened at JHS 98 Herman Ridder because the other three schools at the address are high schools.
