Students, staff and parents agree: bullying is a problem in Henrico schools
Bullying is one of the top issues for parents, students and staff in Henrico Schools, according to the results of the HCPS 2024 School Survey conducted in February. About half of participants reported a verbal, social, physical or cyberbullying problem at their school. In total, 76% of the student population completed the survey along with 88% of school-level staff and 18% of HCPS families. All survey responses were anonymous.
Henrico CASA welcomes 4 new volunteers, plans next information session
Henrico CASA recently swore in four new Court Appointed Special Advocates, who now will join 88 others who are actively serving local children. Henrico CASA recruits and trains CASAs to advocate for children involved in the court, foster care, and child welfare systems. The organization’s mission is to help children and families access the services they need. It has supported about 4,100 children since 1994. During May, which is National Mental Health Month, CASA officials are encouraging parents to remember that caring for a child’s mental health is as important as caring for their physical health.

According to County Manager John A. Vithoulkas, the income necessary to afford to buy a home in Virginia increased by 76% and the median price of a home in Henrico increased to $355,000 in 2023, a price point only one third of the county's households are able to afford.
5 Henrico students earn $2,500 National Merit Scholarships
Five students from Henrico County schools were among the 65 students in Virginia to win the National Merit $2,500 Scholarship Program, which is designed to help students with strong academic records and leadership skills.
