HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Lebanese Food Festival is returning to central Virginia this weekend with your traditional favorites and some new food options.

Traditional Lebanese food that we know and love will be available, including grape leaves, assorted meat, cheese, and spinach pies, shawarma and baked kibbee.

“We are thrilled to be here again this year and to embrace the central Virginia community,” volunteer Sandra Joseph Brown told 8News.

Organizers are debuting some new food options this year, including Lebanese potato salad and a new dessert.

“It’s a sesame seed cookie,” Brown explained. “Now, I have to tell you, because we didn’t make thousands and thousands of them – the only way you’re going to be able to try them is if you get the assortment pack, and that’s one of everything.”

Festivalgoers will also be able to take wine off premises this year, while enjoying live music and traditional Lebanese dancing. Brown says food preparation began back in January, and gets everyone in the family involved.

“It is truly a labor of love,” Brown said. “Our youngest volunteer is three and our youngest at heart is 96. So, it is truly a family affair.”

Festivalgoers can head to St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church on Sadler Road in western Henrico County on Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Doors are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 19.

On-site parking is available, but in the event that lots are full, off-site parking will be available at Markel with free shuttles. A full menu and online ordering options can be found on the Lebanese Food Festival’s website.
