Yates named new athletic director at BNL
BEDFORD – Adam Yates, who has served as an assistant athletic director for three years at Bedford North Lawrence, has been named the school’s new athletic director. Yates succeeds Jeff Callahan, who served in the position for 21 years. He is the fifth man to head the sports programs in the 50-year history of BNL, following Gil Fey, Ray Manis, Mike Short and Callahan.

Three Stars advance to track regional
BROWNSTOWN – Bedford North Lawrence advanced three athletes to the second stage of the IHSAA state tournament series during the sectional on Thursday night. BNL’s Braydon Patterson, Frank Decker and Tripp Stahl qualified for the regional at Bloomington North. The top three in each event advanced. The Stars finished sixth in the team competition with 48.5 points, while Springs Valley won the title with 128.5.
BNL’s Voigtschild wins sectional title in 800
SEYMOUR – Bedford North Lawrence freshman Paige Voigtschild won the 800-meter race during the IHSAA girls track sectional at Seymour on Wednesday night. Voigtschild won a thrilling duel with Eastern Pekin’s Katie Hauner, edging her closest competitor by a scant .03 seconds to claim the blue ribbon. Voigtschild clocked 2:32.54 while earning a ticket to the regional. The top three finishers in each event advanced to the second stage of the state tournament series at Bloomington North.
Huskies Begin Road To WCWS On Friday Against Indiana
COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 13 Washington softball begins its road to the Women's College World Series as the No. 2-seed in the Columbia Regional. The Huskies are set to face the No. 7 national seed Missouri Tigers, Indiana Hoosiers and Omaha Mavericks in a double elimination tournament beginning on Friday.
