Richland Library Company exhibits local folk artist’s works
The paintings of William Harrison Atkinson, 1895-1978, folk artist of Bucks County, are featured in an exhibit from now until July 31, at Richland Library Co., 44 S. Main St., Quakertown. The paintings exhibited include the “Oldest Home in Richland Township,” a “Quilting Bee” with participants identified, “Fishtown” and “Licking Run Creek,” the Fluck home and family, Haycock Mountain, and many others donated for this exhibit by individual owners, the Richland Historical Society, and Richland Library Company.
P’burg residents in ‘food swamp’ struggle to find grocery staples amid brief Wawa closure
The signs are plastered everywhere. The Wawa convenience store in Phillipsburg is closed temporarily. Employees at the Roseberry Street store said they could not speak to the company’s plans, but signs at the site say the store will be closed until June 13 for renovations. The Roseberry Street site’s fuel stations will remain open during renovations.
P’burg Farmers Market will host a pet costume parade, Father’s Day Quoits Tourney
The Phillipsburg Farmers Market will offer some new forms of fun this year. The market announced it will host a pet parade and costume contest on Sunday, May 19. Participants are invited to bring their furry contestants to meet, sniff and strut their stuff at Shappell Park all day. The parade is scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m., followed by the costume contest at noon. The event is free to participate.
