One dead, three injured in I-75 construction zone crash
Springfield Twp. — On April 13, the Michigan State Police Detroit Regional Communication Center was notified of a minor four car hit and run crash that occurred in the left lane of Northbound I-75 South of the East Holly Road bridge. The section of highway is currently a construction zone.

Tonight will be mostly clear with lows in the upper teens to lower 20s. Tomorrow will be sunny still a little chilly with daytime highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s. Temperatures will warm up going into this weekend and the next best chance of showers will be on Friday even better chance on Saturday.

CHARLEVOIX — With the early arrival of warm weather, residents should take heed of the rising rate of ticks in Northern Michigan that can transmit Lyme disease. The bacterial infection is becoming more prevalent in the region, with an increase in reports associated with its parasitic carrier, the black-legged tick, according to the Health Department of Northwest Michigan's Medical Director Dr. Joshua Meyerson.

147-year-old lighthouse in Iosco County to reopen following renovations
After more than a year of restoration efforts, the Tawas Lighthouse is almost ready to shine again. Tucked away between Tawas Bay and Lake Huron up in Iosco County, the 67-foot-tall lighthouse is nearly set to reopen for the spring and summer season, and in honor of its reopening, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the Michigan History Center and the Friends of Tawas Point Lighthouse and State Park are partnering to kick the season off with an all-day event on May 2 — 147 years to the date since a light first shone from the lighthouse's lantern room.
Alpena Community College Holds A Ribbon Cutting To Debut New Welding and Manufacturing Labs
Alpena community college had a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of their new welding and manufacturing labs. “We basically just opened up our new lab and our, new lab here is state of the art lab. We’ve been working on this project, with planning for a few years and now it’s finally coming together, and we’re able to you know, offer our students an experience that’s, that’s really as good as, really any program in the nation” said Tim Ratz, welding instructor at Alpena community college.
