One dead, three injured in I-75 construction zone crash
Springfield Twp. — On April 13, the Michigan State Police Detroit Regional Communication Center was notified of a minor four car hit and run crash that occurred in the left lane of Northbound I-75 South of the East Holly Road bridge. The section of highway is currently a construction zone.

Alpena MI – We saw showers in the early morning hours, other than that we have been seeing spotty showers and thunderstorms in our viewing areas. This is all associated with a cold front that will be coming through the area tonight and drop our temperatures drastically for Wednesday. Tonight we will have rain and even some snow showers in the area much colder with overnight lows in the upper 20s. Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy early then becoming mostly sunny later much colder with daytime highs only in the upper 30s. North northeast winds at 10-15 mph. As we go into the weekend our temperatures will began to warm up again with highs returning to the 60s and 70s.

CHARLEVOIX — With the early arrival of warm weather, residents should take heed of the rising rate of ticks in Northern Michigan that can transmit Lyme disease. The bacterial infection is becoming more prevalent in the region, with an increase in reports associated with its parasitic carrier, the black-legged tick, according to the Health Department of Northwest Michigan's Medical Director Dr. Joshua Meyerson.

Alpena Community College hosted a career and technical education signing day for Alpena high school students that intend to pursue further education on their campus. “Career and tech signing day is meant to mimic the athletic signing days. Instead of celebrating someone’s athletic prowess, which is also admirable. We’re here to celebrate kids, showing off in the classroom and their choice that they’re making to proceed towards, career oriented training and education going forward, so that they are ready to make a nice living in the workforce when they’re finished” said Lee Fitzpatrick, Director of communications for Alpena public schools.

Alpena community college had a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of their new welding and manufacturing labs. “We basically just opened up our new lab and our, new lab here is state of the art lab. We’ve been working on this project, with planning for a few years and now it’s finally coming together, and we’re able to you know, offer our students an experience that’s, that’s really as good as, really any program in the nation” said Tim Ratz, welding instructor at Alpena community college.
