HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - The next-to-last weekend of May is here. Among the big events on the docket, the US Nationals for cyclists in Charleston, the Armed Forces Day Parade in South Charleston and the 2nd annual Taco Festival in Huntington. While the West Virginia State high school track and field meet goes rain or shine starting Friday, some delays due to lightning are possible in the evening. Both Kentucky and Ohio state Track and Field meets are next weekend. Turns out many outdoor events will be played in the rain.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - The stubborn morning clouds took a while to erode, but we’re working on it. This will be our ‘break’ between rain events, so we’ll have to take advantage as best we can this afternoon. Though an isolated shower can pop up this afternoon, most folks will make it through rain-free and with at least partial sunshine through to evening. Temperatures will stay comfortable, going from the 60s to near 80°. After a relaxing evening of quieter weather, we’ll be tracking the next wave of clouds approaching in the pre-dawn hours of Friday.

Weekend weather much improved from earlier forecasts
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -Soaking rains will arrive tonight and deposit a general half inch of water. Gardens and lawns will soak the rains up quite well. There is still the chance of some street flooding (storm drains overflowing) with a few select areas at risk for a freak flash flood. Hence the Alert Day status is maintained until dawn.
