CABELL COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – First responders in Cabell County got a big “Thank you!” by way of a very special lunch. The Marshall Health Network marked EMS Week with a free cookout for EMS workers on Friday.

The event took place at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, and organizers say it was all about rewarding the EMS workers for what they do and for setting patients on a start to recovery.

“We just want them to know that we recognize how hard they work, and we appreciate everything they do. It’s those guys who do in the field that gets the ball rolling for a patient,” said Rhonda Brown, Trauma PI Clinical Coordinator.

The event took place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday after being rescheduled from Wednesday due to weather.
