Korean War Veterans will be the Grand Marshals and will ride on a special bus to lead off the Parade. This year’s Veterans Parade has a lot of entries including the 129th Army Band of the Tennessee Army National Guard, the CCHS Jet Pride Marching Band, Stone Memorial High School Band and the Rugby Cornet Band. Crossville Breaks Ground on Major Retail Development

Dirt is officially flying in Cumberland County for a major new shopping hub. Crossville Mayor RJ Crawford led a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday for Crossville Commons, a development on Genesis Road bringing several national retailers to the area. Crawford credited Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton and State Senator Paul Bailey for their vital legislative contributions at the state level, particularly in helping secure sales tax increment financing to make the project viable. The retail center will feature a lineup of national brands, including Hobby Lobby, ALDI, Marshalls, Burlington, and PetSmart. During the event, Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster dedicated his ceremonial shovel turn to the late former Crossville Mayor James Mayberry, recognizing his early work in laying the foundation for local retail expansion. The center is expected to open in early 2028.

The Southeast Tennessee Human Resource Agency (SETHRA) will be distributing USDA commodities in partnership with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank to eligible residents in Meigs County on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at the city and county building located at 351 River Road, Decatur from 11 a.m. until run out. Residents may sign up on the day of distribution. If you prefer to register in advance, contact your local SETHRA office. To schedule an appointment, call the Meigs County SETHRA office at 423-334-3305. To complete your application, you will need to provide proof of income for all household members or proof of category eligibility. Eligibility is based on total household income not exceeding the state-established maximum percentage of the federal poverty guidelines for your household size or meeting category eligibility requirements. Knox County Schools starts warning employees of layoffs in their departments

Knox County Schools has begun alerting employees across all divisions of its central office that they might lose their jobs this summer as leaders face budgetary pressures. Roughly 50 positions will be eliminated in July, about a quarter of which are supervisory or administrative roles, Superintendent Jon Rysewyk said. "Our 91 schools are the most important functional piece of how our kids are successful," Rysewyk told Knox News. "We continue to cut when we don't have the dollars to get there and the cost of things continue to go up. It's our job to make sure that we're preserving the schools as best we can." KCS officials did not say which departments' employees have been notified. Knox News has learned educational diagnosticians and members of the IT department and therapeutic professional partnership program were told positions in their departments will be cut. "Out of respect for our staff, we will not be able to confirm specifics until all employees have been notified," KCS spokesperson Carly Harrington told Knox News.
