KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) — A Grifton man has been arrested by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office and charged with attempted murder after they said he was shooting at family members.

Cameron Edmundson, 20, was arrested on a half-dozen charges including two attempted first-degree murder charges after his arrest during a domestic dispute that deputies responded to on Saturday.

    Edmundson was formally charged with:

    • Two counts of attempted first-degree murder

    • One count of discharging a weapon into occupied property

    • One count of assault by pointing a gun

    • One count of simple assault

    • One count of damage to property

He received no bond on all the felony charges but received a secured bond for the damage to property charge. The incident is still under investigation and more charges are pending.

Deputies responded to 6728 Skeeter Pond Road on Saturday for a call of a domestic disturbance call. While on the way there, Lenoir County Communications advised the disturbance had turned physical and that Edmundson had guns in his possession.

Dispatch later advised the suspect was shooting at occupants inside the home with a handgun and was on the back porch of the home with an AR-15-style rifle shooting at family members and neighbors.

Deputies arrived and confronted Edmundson, where he was observed being armed with the AR-15-style rifle and a semiautomatic gun. Deputies approached him and ordered him to drop his weapons. Edmundson did so, was taken into custody and arrested.

During the investigation, deputies learned Edmundson shot at family members inside the home, outside and into a vehicle as they were trying to leave. Family members drove to a neighbor’s home where they said Edmundson also fired guns towards that residence.

Multiple firearms were seized during the investigation, including the AR-15-style rifle and the handgun that was used during the assault. Deputies also located and seized Schedule VI marijuana and Schedule I psychedelic mushrooms from Edmundson.
