Families, businesses to be impacted due to road construction in Greenville
GREENVILLE, Pitt County — A couple busy roads in Greenville will be widened to four lanes to help with traffic. Construction will begin in 2026 to widen Old Tar Road and Evans Street at a cost of more than $160 million. The project was first drawn up in 2017.

ECU picks up commitment from three-star big Baron Smith Jr.
East Carolina has added to its 2024 recruiting class with the commitment of three-star center Baron Smith Jr. from Haltom High School in Haltom City, Texas, located just outside of Fort Worth. Saturday started out on a wet note for most of ENC, as a steady flow of showers and storms moved in before sunrise. Clouds and a few peaks of sunshine is possible as we go throughout the day, but that will be short-lived, as more showers and storms will be moving in later in the afternoon. The concerns for the storms later today will be gusty winds and hail, as well as flash flooding, if the storms sits over the same areas. If flooding starts to occur, never drive through a flooded roadway. The best time frame to watch out for any severe weather will be after the 4:00 PM hour and continuing into the night time hours. The instability will be there for any possible storms to be on the severe side. Make sure you have a way to receive any warnings that might be issued.
