GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man being held at the Franklin County House of Corrections was taken back to Connecticut for charges in connection to sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

According to Connecticut State Police, 21-year-old Carlos Davila of New London, Connecticut was picked up in Greenfield by troopers on Wednesday and brought back to Connecticut to be charged with criminal attempt to commit sexual assault in the second degree and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.

On July 10, 2021, officers were called to a home in Montville, Connecticut for a report of a 14-year-old girl who was allegedly sexually assaulted by Davila. The victim told police she had been talking to Davila through social media messages when he told her to meet him at the Oakdale Elementary School on July 9. The victim and her friend were at the school when Davila arrived in a grey sedan and allegedly pushed her to the ground and exposed himself. Both victims were able to escape.

The victim also told police Davila knew how old she was and had previously asked for explicit photos of her through messages. Both victims were able to identify Davila to police when shown a photo lineup. An arrest warrant was issued for Davila in January 2022 but he had left the state.

In an unrelated incident on November 22, 2022, Massachusetts State Police conducted a traffic stop in Greenfield where Davila was the passenger in the vehicle. Following a search of the car, troopers found a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson pistol stolen out of Vermont. He was arrested for firearm charges.

While he was being booked in Franklin County, Davila had initially given officers a false name. Once they were able to identify him, they discovered he had an active arrest warrant out of Connecticut. He had been held in the Franklin County House of Corrections before being taken back to Connecticut this week.
