Dreary and wet start to the weekend
We're keeping our eye on a couple of different storm systems that impact the Valley into the weekend. A weakening system to our west is continuing to slide eastbound, making for showers and clouds. Meanwhile, another to our SW lifts toward the Mid-Atlantic overnight. That one brings more widespread rain to the region. Rain lingers right into Saturday and with that, temps will struggle. Clouds along with the onshore flow will make for afternoon readings in the 60s. As this wave departs, Sunday becomes drier as high pressure builds. We'll see more clouds early with sunshine peeking through later in the day. We still could see a stray shower or two but it's looking much drier. Highs rise back into the lower and middle 70s to end the weekend. Upper-ridging leads to more sunshine as we kick-off the workweek. Expect mostly sunny conditions Monday and Tuesday with highs surging back into the lower and middle 80s. A cold front then looks to approach the area Wednesday into Thursday. Showers and storms are on the table as the front swings through, with the front likely not getting through until Thursday. With the warmer airmass, and a little organizational wind, we could see a couple stronger storms. That's something the Storm Team will be watching closely. Temps get knocked back a bit with highs back into the mid-70s on Friday. The workweek ends drier, as high pressure briefly builds in but don't get used to it. Another unsettled stretch unfold closer to Memorial Day with shower chances Saturday through the holiday. Stay tuned if you have any plans, especially any picnics or beach trips!
