Shed is third structure fire since March caused by burning weeds
BULLHEAD CITY — A man burning weeds in his yard on Monday set his shed on fire. Emergency crews responded about 12:36 p.m. to reports of a structure fire in the 1700 block of Sierra Vista Drive. Arriving crews found a shed on fire with exposure to trash behind the shed and exposure to a second shed in the yard.
Suspected shoplifter leads Bullhead City police on high-speed chase into Nevada
BULLHEAD CITY — A man suspected of shoplifting a generator led police on a high-speed chase into Nevada. About 11:45 a.m., 911 dispatch notified officers to be on the lookout for a man suspected of stealing a generator from a retail outlet on Miracle Mile. Reports indicated he left in a rented pickup.
BOS forums set for District 1 and 4 candidates
KINGMAN — Candidates for the District 1 and 4 seats on the Mohave County Board of Supervisors are scheduled to take part in a forum today in Kingman. The forum, hosted by Murphy Broadcasting, will be held at 6 p.m. at the Kingman Are Chamber of Commerce, 309 E. Beale St. in Kingman.

Home Depot delivers project grant to Fort Mojave Mesa Fire Department Station 92
FORT MOHAVE — Home Depot Foundation was once again ready to help a local fire department. The foundation recently awarded Fort Mojave Mesa Fire Department Station 92 a $16,500 grant for repairs. Last week, Team Home Depot volunteers from the Bullhead City and Lake Havasu City stores, along with volunteers from Sunrise Rotary Club spent a day giving the station a much needed refresh.
Laughlin Township budget set at $27.8 million for the coming fiscal year
LAUGHLIN — A budget of more than $27.8 million for the township of Laughlin is included in Clark County’s overall budget for fiscal year 2024-25 to be reviewed at a public hearing of the Board of Commissioners on May 20 and slated to take effect when the new budget year begins July 1.

Bullhead City man who allegedly stabbed stepfather to be committed to mental health facility
KINGMAN — A jury found late Thursday that a Bullhead City man charged with fatally stabbing his stepfather is dangerous and must be committed to a secure facility. John Ashley James, 49, had been charged with first-degree murder for the murder of Gabriel Paz Toledano, 65, in May 2021 in Bullhead City.

LAS VEGAS – The Laughlin High School track and field team competed for the final time this season at the Southern 2A Regional Championship.
