A boy and a woman were stabbed in separate incidents on the Metro system on Monday night.

The first incident happened in Glendale when a boy was stabbed while onboard a Metro bus. It happened around 7:05 p.m. near West Los Feliz Road and South Central Avenue.

A group of boys tried to steal the victim’s backpack when they stabbed him, according to KCAL . The boy was hospitalized in stable condition.

While the boys did run off, two of them were caught by police. Authorities are searching for a third suspect.

Two hours later, a woman was stabbed at the Metro Green Line Station at the intersection of South Vermont Avenue and the 105 Freeway. She was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition. The suspect, described as a man wearing all black, was last seen boarding a train towards Hawthorne.

    Both incidents are under investigation.

These come in the midst of attacks on the Metro system. On April 29, Metro’s Board of Directors declared a public safety emergency and approved the installation of protective barriers for drivers.

L.A. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, who is also a Metro board member, told KNX News’ Jon Baird she plans to talk to the L.A. County Sheriff about what can be done.

“ While we are addressing Metro, we have to look at the root cause of what is going on in this county,” she said. “I'm happy that the governor's announced an increase in funding for treatment beds. We need to have an all-hands-on-deck discussion about the root cause of what is causing the increase in people being victimized, not only on Metro but on the streets as a whole.”

On April 29, Metro's Board of Directors approved an emergency procurement declaration to speed up the process of obtaining and installing protective barriers for drivers on about 2,000 buses.

On May 3, Metro bus drivers called out sick in what was believed to be part of an organized "sick out " labor action in response to the ongoing violent attacks.

Conan Cheung, Metro’s director of operations, told KNX News Chief Correspondent Charles Feldman about 360 bus drivers called out sick.
