'Sick of It!' caravan challenges cuts to Affordable Care Act, Medicaid

A group of patients and healthcare advocates are traveling coast to coast to challenge more than $1 trillion in cuts to the nation’s healthcare system under the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act." The “ Sick of It! Fix Health Care Now ” bus tour made stops in Adams County and Colorado Springs on Oct. 26, and in Grand Junction on Oct. 27. Laura Packard, a former Denver resident and Stage 4 cancer survivor, said Colorado’s Republican congressional delegation voted to cut Medicaid to give tax breaks to the wealthy and refused to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits, which helped people afford coverage. "I personally get my insurance through the Affordable Care Act, which saved my life. And my same policy for last year to this year has gone up 21%, and it's going up double digits again next year," Packard reported. "This is just not sustainable.
